James founded Soundryx in 2025 to build sensor networks for threats that traditional defenses miss.
Background
James began his career at NASA, the National Security Agency, and the Department of Energy, applying software and data analysis to technical problems. In 2015, he joined Uber as its second-youngest engineer.
After Uber, he founded Neocrym, a company training AI models on music audio to identify undiscovered songs with licensing potential.
As low-cost drones became a growing threat to military and civilian sites, James adapted that audio-machine-learning work into Soundryx's first product: an acoustic sensor network that detects drones that evade traditional air defenses.
Today, Soundryx builds sensor networks for industrial sites, critical infrastructure, law enforcement, and militaries.
